Lake George is about 30 minutes north of Canberra. There is water in the lake now, after about 30 years of being dry.
There are wind turbines on the far side of the lake, but you'll probably need a telephoto lens if you want a photo with any detail.
Because the lake has been dry for so long, there are interesting photos to be taken of partially-submerged objects such as fences and windmills.
The main road runs along the side of the lake, and there are several rest areas along the lake. The rest areas all have toilets and free parking.
Lake George is on the Federal Highway between Canberra and Sydney.
There are several rest areas along the side of the lake, and also an elevated lookout called Weereewa Lookout that overlooks the whole lake. This lookout is at the top of the hill on the Canberra end of the road.
