"Civic" is the local name given to the centre of Canberra city. It's always been called that. I guess it was seen as the civic centre of town.
It was the original commercial centre of Canberra and where all the office blocks were. These days office blocks are being replaced by residential buildings.
The parking here is pretty restricted as a result of local government policy that has been selling off the public carparks. As a result, there isn't much parking available apart from that available at the Canberra Centre shopping centre.
There are toilets at the Canberra Centre as well as any public buildings. There are also public toilets dotted around the city.
The most reliable parking for tourists is at the Canberra Centre shopping mall. There are a few multi-storey car parks.
