Tulip Tops is a tulip nursery and tourist attraction that is just outside Canberra.
It is an alternative to Foriade in central Canberra, and has the benefit of being more relaxed and less crowded. You enter at the top of a hill and then walk downwards to the flowers. The flowers are in a well-manicured area surrounded by shade trees. Most of the trees have chairs laid out beneath them. Some people bring picnics.
Once descending into the gardens, everything is on the flat unless you want to climb up the path to the lookout. You can exit directly into the carpark without having to go back up the hill to the entrance.
There is a fee of $20-$22 per adult to enter.
There are toilets, a cafe, coffee shop, donut shop, wine bar, and plenty of tables and chairs. Free tea and instant coffee, however the coffee shop sells expresso and cappuccinos if you need that caffeine hit.
Tulip Tops is off the Federal Highway between Canberra and Sydney. It is about 10 minutes North of Canberra.
There is plenty of free parking in front of the entrance.
