The Botanic Gardens holds plants from all over Australia. They are well organised with plenty of paths that wind around so that you can get close to the various plants. This is particularly good for photography because you can get close to anything you want to photograph. However, the wildlife may not necessarily agree.
The roads and paths are all in good condition.
The NBG changes with the seasons, so there are different things to photograph throughout the year. It is also a great place to just wander around and observe nature at its best.
In Winter there are a lot less flowers and parts of the Gardens can look rather drab from a photography perspective.
The botanic gardens are home to native birdlife, kangaroos, and water dragons.
On hot days it is a pleasure to visit the Rainforest Walk as it will be cool and there are plenty of ferns to photograph.
There are toilets on site at the information centre and at a few other locations in the park.
There is a cafe in the park that serves food to suit all tastes. It's a great place to relax and rest your feet. There are also a large number of grass areas if you want to take a picnic.
The Botanic Gardens are located on the side of Black Mountain, near the road going up to Telstra Tower.
The only parking nearby is the paid parking in the grounds. There is usually sufficient parking except on really popular public holidays when you might have to wait a while for a spot to free up.

There is a good walkway through the rainforest.

Fog is created in the rainforest every hour. This allows some imaginative photography.
