This is a large-ish park that adjoins several suburbs in the Belconnen Area.
It is a combination of wilderness and residential park. So while there are some interesting natural areas, there is a network of bitumen paths though it that appear to be well-used by joggers and cyclists. The paths keep you away from nature, so to get the good photos you have to be prepared to get off the paths. The downside is that there don't seem to be many trails from the paths to the good nature spots, so you need to be prepared to explore.
One side is more maintained than the other. It's not hard to tell one from the other because the wilder area contains a sewage exhaust facility, so you can smell it before you can see it. In this area, most of the trails have been made by animals, so they just go to the water - there's no network of trails along the creek (that I could find).
The Eastern side of the park has playgrounds, a BBQ area, and some bridges that would make a good setting for, say, wedding photos.
There are no toilets in the park.
There is a free carpark off Florey Drive, Latham
There are other entrances from Latham, Macgregor, and Flynn
The entrance near Backhouse Street is best for the playground, BBQ and scenic bridge locations.
Typical grasslands surrounding the paths.
Someone probably said "let's make them irregular so they look more natural"
Sewage pipe. Your nose will tell you when you're close.
One of the bridges closed for maintenance
This trail took me to the river. But it was made by kangaroos.
The kangaroo trail took me here and no further.
Tall grass in most of the wilder areas.
The river is in the distance. The paths don't go near it generally, so you have to be prepared to cross some wild grass.
One of the bridges
Best not to come if you're allergic to grass or grass seeds
Another bridge that may suit a posed photo opportunity.
