Old Parliament House (OPH) has gardens on either side of it. These gardens were established for the parliamentary staff and politicians and included lawn bowls and tennis courts. The tennis courts are still in use, but the lawn bowls area is not.
Each garden has a pergola covered with wisteria that produce a great show in September-October.
Each garden has rose gardens, but the House of Representatives garden has the more extensive formal garden. The roses are probably best seen in November-December as there were only a few roses open in early October when I was there last.
There are no toilets in the parks, but there are public toilets in the OPH building itself.
Paid parking is available in front of OPH and on either side.
This parking is probably free on weekends and public holidays (but I need to check).
