The cork plantation is inside the grounds of the Arboretum. There is a dirt road that takes you there off the main entry road.
The plantation is a reasonably large area of cork trees from which the cork is harvested regularly. There is little underbrush in the plantation so it is easy to leave the trails and go cross-country.
It is a good place to visit on a hot day as there is plenty of shade and kids can run around on the grass and between the trees.
There are a lot of fungi to be found in Winter.
There is a trail from the cork plantation carpark to the plantation itself. Maybe 200m. There are several trails that take you around and across the plantation.
The cork plantation is inside the Arboretum. The road to the plantation is to the right when you enter, called Cork Oak Road.
Cork Oak Rd takes you to the Cork Oak carpark which is free. The forest is just a few minutes walk from the carpark.
The Arboretum itself is on Forest Road
Cork has been harvested from the tree trunks.
